Parking Ticket - Faded Sign - What do you think

Stupidly parked on a street by the shops that I have parked on before (on a Sunday), looked at the sign and thought I was ok.

As you can see from the photo, I was OK timewise for the main white sign, the unloading.
I focused on this and didn't really look at the yellow one.

1) With this faded sign alone, is it worth challenging?
2) As you can see from the maps there are other yellow signs down the street, which may be less faded, could this hamper my challenge?

While the wording is clear enough, with the circle showing nothing at all, I don't think the council have a leg to stand on!

I assume the council took photos of your vehicle? If you are closest to this sign, then this meaningless sign is the one that applies to you. Gets more complicated if the others have arrows...

Looks like the black writing has been oversprayed with yellow (some of the edging on the sign appears still to be black). So not just faded, but lettering isn't black as is presumably required by the traffic regs.

But you need to be prepared to take it to appeal if the council refuse your challenge.

I've appealed and asked that they honour the 14d days 50% discount, if it takes longer.

You might get away with it as the circular no waiting sign is just a blank small circle

Yes, with just a white circle that sign is meaningless. I would definitely challenge this ticket. Please let us know how you get on.

Has someone deliberately defaced the sign, has it been reported to the Council, maybe the Council have it on record there is a problem with this sign, worth a telephone call to report it

Another thought maybe the Council lifted the restrictions for some reason and then forgot to reinstate them

Got a PDF attached to an email as a reply.

They have completely ignore the questions and photos regarding the Sign and it's state i.e. White sticker, yellow sprayed/fading type.

If the fine was more than £35 I work argue and contest, however I can't be arsed....
I'll pay it, was my fault for parking there. Hey ho!!

You could say that you're a 'traveller'. Councils and police don't seem too bothered about them!

I have fought several PCN's citing inadequate or illegible signage and won every one. It may be a technicality, but if the signage does not comply, you should not have to pay.

Organisations fine you for a reason: they want money! They will never turn around and say "D'you know what? I'm gonna let you off this time." Even if they are blatently in the wrong, they will fight their corner and demand payment. Most give up because they don't want threats of "bailiffs" chasing them for an ever-growing debt.

However, new rules mean that unless a bailiff has been into your home before and taken control of goods, you are perfectly within your rights to refuse entry to the bailiffs, despite what they may claim.

They also cannot seize your car if it is needed for your work. They certainly can't seize it if it is locked away.
