I currently have a Gas fire but i want to cap the pipe and have an electric fire instead okay here goes:

1) Do these fires just plug into a socket or would it be a fused unit? (if it was a fused unit where on earth would i put in regards to the fire surround?)
2) Can i block the flue up?

I think thats all i need to ask for now!!!

capping the gas pipe should be carried out by an expert to avoid leaks,

most electric fires come with a moulded 13 amp plug so you should be able to plug it in providing that you have a 13 amp outlet close enough to the final resting place of the electric fire.

check the rating of the fire before you purchase. as a rough guide assume 4 amps per 1000watts (1kw) so a 2500 watt (2.5kw) fire should consume about 10 amps meaning that a 13amp plug socket is adequate.

oh yes.. electric fires do not need the flu

stay warm!!
