I'm going to edge my patio with black block paving style edgings, my plan is to set them as normal on a bed of hardcore then in sand and cement.

However, my garden has a slight fall of about 10 inches which I want to level off, so at one end I'm going to raised and be lets say 2 bricks high.

Should the '2 bricks high' sections be set on a concrete footing or is it ok to proceed on the hardcore foundations?

Many thanks.

It is not normal to lay on hardcore and then mortar.

Edgings kerbs etc should always be layed and haunched with concrete.

Ok thanks, so should they be on a concrete footing or just laid and haunched with concrete straight on the the earth? I seam to remember a block paver laying my mums straight onto the clay.

yes straight onto the earth. a bed of 100mm of concrete for a path or 150 for a drive, make your concrete semi-dry or tapping the kerbs in will upset the next one. haunch with the same mix but a bit wetter
