Peugeot Partner indicator stalk, seems to have a loose connection

When you put the indicators on the indicators flash sometimes slowly and then normal speed.
If this happens and you are to put a little pressure on the indicator stalk, it then continues to flash normally, and then remove the pressure the indicators flash at a strange speed.
Yet the head lights are controlled from the same stalk and are not affected. It is only pushing down on the stalk to start indicating does it start this ill regular flash.
If this is the case what do i need to do to fix it.
If the bulb was going, then I take it that if you are to apply a little pressure downwards (indicating left) that the indicator lights would continue to flask quickly or slowly not go back to normal speed.
