I have recently had double glazed windows fitted. The windows are supposed to be pilkington k glass. Some windows had stickers on them saying the the glass with the sticker should be fitted facing inwards. Some of the pane had the sticker facing outwards. I queried this with the window fitter and they said the stickers were wrong not the window. Is there any way to check the glass is the correct way round. Also is it possible to check k glass has been used?

Dont take their word for it, i've worked in the glass trade for 20 years, its very unlikely the glass shop put the sticker on the wrong pane.

If it was single glazing you could just use a battery some wire and a little light bulb and make a simple circuit, holding the 2 wires on the glass, because the coating is metalic it will create a circuit and the bulb should light up.

But in a double glazed unit the coating unfortunately is on the cavity side of the inner pane so the simple circuit wont work, hence a proper tester.

Get them back!

I used to leave the stickers on for the customer to take off, if it ever happened that the sticker was on the wrong side then personally i'd of peeled it off and put it on inside.

ditto freddy.try and get a BCO to run his tester over them.i fitted my own windows/doors a few years back and accidentely put 1 unit in back to front and when they came to sign the extension off they picked it up.he said the heat loss was minimal in a single unit(patio door) that i shouldnt bother myself changing it.

makes BC a bit pointless in my mind but hey ho.
