I have recently moved into a house with a Glowworm Economy Plus 60B boiler. It was working fine for the first week but when the gas man came and turned the gas off at the mains the pilot light would not stay lit. I have changed the thermocouple and the problem is the same. Can anyone suggest what the problem is likely to be. Someone has said it may be the gas valve but it appears to be an expensive part to replace when there is no gaurantee it will fix the problem. If it is the gas valve, can they be repaired?? suggestions appreciated...

are you sure that the thermocouple is in the pilot flame?

yep. had a cigarette lighter on the end of the thermocouple to test it and still nothing. I have even kept the button pressed in for 5 minutes to make sure the thermocouple gets really hot. someone also said it may be the safety cut out?? is this possible?? do gas valves jam?? help!

is it possible for something to trip out in the boiler when the gas was turned off at the mains by the gas board whilst the boiler was on??? This was the point at which it stopped working.
