Pin Hole leak in brand new

Good evening all,
I've just fitted a brand new towel rail (got lots of help from the site) and have discovered a pin hole leak around one of the welds. I bought it on e-bay so don't think I'll be getting a refund . I've read lots of posts about pin hole leaks caused by corrosion and having to replace the rad, however, this is brand new cause is poor manufacture! Can I fix it? It's an Ultraheat Chelmesford in white - dose anyone know if there is a manufacturers warranty?

i take it it's from a shop etc then you still have your rights.

It was from E-bay, the seller is registered as a business user but does not have an e-bay shop. I've contacted them and await reply. I also paid through paypal so hopfully might get a resolution.

Set up a dispute if they won't replace it, but use the PayPal dispute system as the eBay one is utter carp

You have not explained or shown a photo but its quite possible the leak has been caused by damage in transit.

Thats another can of worms when you buy from Ebay!

It is just a shyt quality import that has not been welded or tested properly. You could get it fixed no problem. Any welder could do that for you for 30 - 40 quid or so but unfortunatly the paint would be fkd.
Spend another £40 getting it powder coated and it will be like brand new only better, it won't leak. All for under £100 including petrol money.
Unless it is a big expensive rail, bin it and learn from your mistakes
(you would get around £1 for it from a scrappie)

If people got their stuff from their plumber who gets his gear from his/her regular merchants, they would have somewhere to take it back, I have no sympathy, it's all down to penny pinching by buying off the net, stick to getting free porn which is what the internet was invented for, and get your plumbing stuff from proper merchants.

PEDANTIVINDICKITMAN - if you've got nothing helpful to say (like eveyone else has) why don't you keep it to yourself.
For your information, the towel rail was from a local merchant selling through e-bay and came with lots of recommendations. Agreed a plumber would have a lot more experience and may have known to avoid this brand but I aint loaded - otherwise I wouldn't be fitting it myself!

You should be able to get a refund,file Item not as described,(it obviously should not leak!!) go via Paypal NOT ebay.

You will be asked to return it,a good seller would refund your costs,if hes a business seller youre covered.

Give him time to replace it before you leave negative feedback!

Neg feedback is VERY problematic for a trader on Ebay!

When he replaces it then give him good feedback as he has tackled the problem and sorted it out.

You have a legal right to a replacement under the Sale of Goods Act. This states that products sold "must be of satisfactory quality". A rad that leaks out of the box isn't.

I'd suggest contacting the seller and telling them that you expect a replacement. If they refuse then you can contact Trading Standards.

Also, if it is less than 7 working days since you received the rad, then you also have a legal right to cancel the order under the "Distance Selling Regulations 2000".
