PIR power usage?

Hopefully a simple question that I'd like an answer to please.

Does a PIR use any power when the light it's controlling is not on?
i.e Is it costing me money even when it's not being used?

proberly,but not much I would have thought,less than a TV on standby possibly, unless it is activated by animals etc ,when no one about.

I wasn't but the girlfried is so thought I'd try and find out.
It's not really triggered un neccessarily it was more of is it costing to have it even when it's not on.

Are we talking 1p a day type stuff?
