Bought a new house 2 years ago...now, all over the house, the nails holding the plasterboard to the joists and laths are popping, knocking the plaster plugs out of the wall and leaving the nail heads visible...much to the dismay of my wife, resulting in sharp screeching pain to my ears

Am thinking of screwing the plasterboards in to the laths either side of the nails as I assume that just filling them now will mean that they will just pop again resulting in more earache etc..... Will screwing the boards in fix the problem for ever? Can anyone recommend a good filler or will the standard stuff do ? Can no longer afford the asparin

Thanks a lot

thanks folks....

gcol ..... The problem is that the board has moved but the nails are still in place, and with my track record, I reckon i'd probably do more damage removing the nails. I'm someone who when trying to remove some bathroom tiles in a previous house, took half the wall with me  . Thats why I was a little wary of doing this job. Am hoping that screwing them down will stop the board moving at all, and therefore no more popping boards, plugs or nails or brain damage from my wife's moaning
