As a a quick description our lounge and kitchen back onto each other whith the chimeny in the lounge side and two cuboards to one side (one accessed from the kitchen one from the lounge)

We have taken down the diving wall between the cuboards and opened it up as an alcove (the walls were all breezeblocks and non supporting) however we now have abot a 2ft wide gap between the lounge and the kitchen (full height) with a chimley breast one side and a block wall the other.

Hope that makes sense...

Now how is best fill the gap? plaster board it using battens or use breeze blocks?

If I did plaster board it both side could I use the gap to run some water pipes one end and electrical cabling the other?

Thanks in advance

put your pipes and wires in first and then dab boards over it and make good with finish making sure you tape the joints with fibre tape.
