My house extension is well under way. I am about to plasterboard my ceiling with 12.5 mm plasterboard on 600mm centered joists. I was about to lay them with the long edges running in the same direction as the joists and then I saw the previous topic on plasterboarding .
This I realize from looking at the link to British Gypsum would have been wrong. This means that I will have to fit a lot more noggins than first anticipated but I guess I will have a stronger ceiling.
In addition, although the extension is single storey, I have used attic room trusses as I intend to use that space (eventually) as an extra room.
In addition to the plasterboard noggins (I am using 38 mm square timber for these) should I add extra noggins between the ceiling joists where the attic room is going to be to increase the rigidity of it? I have som 6" x 2" timber left over which I thought of using.
If so, if the joists span 7 metres how far apart should each run of noggins be?
