Hi

Am replacing old batten light fitting in kitchen with more modern square arrangement with three spot lamps.

Problem is that I won't be able to use existing screw holes. The new light is 8" by 8" and there are two retaining holes. When I position the light where the cable comes thru its more or less impossible to get the screws to through the plasterboard and into the joists.

I know the text book approach but I can't get to the floorboards above due to vinyl tiles in the bathroom.

I have considered specialist expanding plasterboard wall pugs but they all seem to be too big for the fitting.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

use the metal fastfix fixings, you screw the holding part into the plasterboard where you need to fix, then screw the screw part in as you would normally.

Thanks for your response but I have never heard of these.

Are they readily available in DIY stores or would I have to go to a specialist?

Cheers again

but couldn't find them. I know I'm being thick but are these different to the usual array of toggle fittings for plasterboard. I just couldn't find anything called "Metal Fast fittings.

Cheers
