Whats the definitive method of fitting a immersion so it doesn't leak 1st time.

1. Use the supplied seal only & do it up goooood & tight
2. Use the seal & add 500 yards of ptfe to the threads
3. Woo ya gotta use special Jollop "Use this its brill"
4. Wtf immersion

Would a extra bit of insulation wrapped around make a whole heap of diff in addition to the sprayed on foam ?

All you need to do is put a little silicone GREASE on both sides of the washer and some on both male and female threads and then do it up firmly but not excessively.

It works because the grease helps to seal the washer but particularly the grease on the thread AND washer lubricate them so the same applied torque actually makes it fit tighter.

Furthermore the grease prevents the thread from corroding and makes it easier to take off in the future.

When you say a little ...... Err is this considered a lot ?

& should I get some in specially, or will something else do ? ....... I have all sorts of automotive greases & lubricants here ........ Even Vaseline without sand ;)

you need WRAS approved grease, the stuff for cars is going to poison you.
