Hi all

I don't have a large garden so I don't need anything too heavy duty. The main use for the shears will actually be cutting grass around edges and borders. So they have to be good for that. I much prefer to do it with shears than strimmers.

I'll also be using the shears for the occasional bit of hedge trimming.

Many thanks

Max

You need long 90 degree shears for edging which would be useless for hedge cutting.

I have a set of bacho's which are good

I hear what you're saying. I'd rather stick with hedge shears so that I have one tool for both hedges and lawn. The garden is small enough to be able to manage with the hedge shears. Plus, when I say edging it is more a case of cutting the grass where it is too close to the house, shed, etc. for the mower to reach.

They get great reviews too.... Just a bit pricey for my needs. I'm gonna have an online bargain hunt for some though and see what I can find....

..........

Just for the record, is there anything about the design or the blade of hedge shears which makes them less suitable for cutting grass? Are many gardeners using them to cut grass?

I've just noticed that unlike most hedge shears, the Bahcos do not have a tension adjuster knob. Seems there's just a nut/bolt at the pivot point.

Can anyone confirm that? And does anyone know why they don't have an adjuster (if that's the case)?

Cheers

Max
