Ply problem

I have built a number of chicken wire covered (removable) light weight fencing panels from my allotment from tantalised 19x38 timber. These are screwed together with 6mm exterior ply triangular bracing pieces at the corners (on the back). Unfortunately the ply (treated with marine varnish) is starting to delaminate at the edges. Any suggestions (a) to improve the life if the ply, (b) an alternative to the ply used?

Ply life can be extended by using an absorbent treatment such as Sadolin, but even that is just delaying the inevitable......
You could use aluminium sheet as a long life bracing material, or other tanalised timber - whichever you are happiest with.

You probably have dodgy plywood.

Varnish is not a good edge sealant, it fails to quickly to provide good protection (marine varnish is still rubbish, when its used on boats they apply a ridiculous number of coats and re-apply every year).

Proper acrilic or PVA based edge sealant should be used, but if it is dodgy plywood its dodgy plywood.
