Hi All

What is the best method of pointing/grouting the 10mm joints on granite slab paving (25mm thick).
I'm laying the granite slabs on a screed mix and the subbase is 8" concrete base.

Is the sweep in powder good or is it best to make a stong sand/cement mix?
A builder friend recomended silver sand and cement but I fear the slabs may stain!

Or any other methods?

Thanks

Be very careful with g603 granite which is the light grey coloured one. It can be prone to picture framing and staining from wet bedding or pointing mixes.

It is worth considering a bond bridge to reduce the staining from bedding.Have a look on the paving expert site for bond bridge.

As for pointing its important that the flags are well soaked then allowed to dry a little before pointing so they don't suck in the cement stained water.

You could save yourself the risk and point it with a resin based pointing compound like marshalls weatherpoint or gtfk
