Don’t know if anybody can help anybody out there familiar with continental mini boiler
I live in Portugal part of the year and have purchased second hand a Portuguese Valiant mini pt 11-0/0xx1h hot water boiler. It runs on butane and was stated to have been used for 3 month . What the add didn’t say was that it most probably had been stored badly for a year.

Worked ok for about 2 hours then the micro switch for the gas ignition/flow valve failed, fixed that and at same time cleared a sticking gas valve by giving it twice the voltage for very short time.(electronic system runs on battery at 3 volt).

Worked satisfactory for 5 weeks till we left for UK leaving it switched off for a couple of month. But even then gas flame was too yellow for my liking and water was not really hot so had to throttle back flow.

Upon return suddenly the flame is 3 times bigger, very yellow and producing so much smoke that the matrix completely sooted up forcing the flame to flare upside of boiler.

Works ok on lower gas regulation at least does not produce visible smoke but again the flame is far too yellow and water temp has increased, not to a dangerous level but had to remove the added flow check. Now only run under close supervision with gas bottle well away.

Have contacted valiant boiler Portugal and all they can advise is a service engineer at 70euro a visit + spares.

Can’t find any adjustment except a brass screw on the gas/flow valve. The bottle regulator is new, but have had to return one on an other appliance as it failed.
Can’t really afford to get new boiler but don’t want to burn house down.
