I have a potterton puma 80 boiler.... and its on the blink
The pilot light has suddenly stopped working. I can light it manually and it stays on for about a minute, then it turns off and the boiler makes a hissing noise.....
I think it may be overheating, but not sure.........
Any ideas and whats the damage £
Cheers

Pump / wax capsule / airlock.

When you say it stays on for a minute, do you mean the burner lights for a minute?

Does it do it on both Ch and HW

Yeah when i turn the pilot light on the boiler kicks in , the flames rise for around a minute then the hissing begins, steam escapes from the top of the boiler and the pilot light then turns off.

Does it do it at all/ similarly/ almost not at all, on hot water?

If it's much less bad it's the pump, if similar, likelly to be boiler full of air or blocked.
