Hi all

Ive just bought a house, which has a back boiler. It has a Potterton EP2000 control panel for the hotwater and central heating

Just a couple of questions for those more knowledgeable than me, as I have no clue.

I managed to find a manual for it, but don't fully understand how to use it, I know if i pull both tabs down to 24 hours then the hot water and heating stays on, I have set the clock now so its on the right time, but not sure what setting/Time would be suggested for the hot water for example rather than having it run 24/7. I mean theres a setting for twice a day, but im not sure if I should have the "Time Set" tab on which setting? Does anyone have any expericance with these? What would you recommend for daily living

Also, the report on the house stated there was no Thermostat and suggested we got one, is this something thats easy to install with the EP2000?

Thanks and sorry for the novice questions

Mark

when you slide just the CH slider does the HW one move too without you pushing it ?

Hi,

From memory yes (im not living there atm) but I am pretty sure it does.

if it does then you have a Gravity HW system, if it doesnt you have a fully pumped system, if Gavity your HW will be on the whole time that the heating is on so we really need to know which you have in order to advise you

Hi, Ok thanks I will double check this then and get back in touch.

Thanks

Hi again

Just double check and if I turn the central heating on the hot water tab does come down automatically with it

Thanks
Mark

then you have a gravity HW system and you need to set any new controls to gravity, you will not be able to have CH on its own

Thanks for the confirmation I appreciate it. Ok makes sense regarding not having the CH on, on its own then. Im just a bit confused by the settings for once a day and twice a day, and Im not too sure on the thermostat option if there is one available..

sorry to sound vague, not used to this sort of system at all

Thanks for the help so far

You can find the EP instructions here.

It should be possible to add a room thermostat but how you do that will depend up the set up / type of heating system you have. If you don't have motorised valves, but have a system where only the heating is pumped (ie the hot water circulates by gravity via a separate circuit) the thermostat can be wired to switch the pump on and off.
