We've had ongoing issues with our Powermax 155. Started just before Christmas. Sounds like a washing machine - water splashing around inside. British Gas and Baxi initially thought it might be condensation in the pipes in the loft, and said the pipes need extra lagging. They syphoned the water out and it works again for a couple of weeks. Just gone on lock out again, now they reckon it might the heat exchange is cracked and we need a new boiler.

Does this make sense?

Thanks,

If the primary He is leaking then the system pressure would be going down???

I have heard that there can be condensation in the flue problems with a long vertical flue.

Does your boiler often short cycle?

Pressure looks normal. We do have a long vertical flue, though i'm surprised we can get so much water in via condensation. In one visit over christmas, the engineer syphoned 4 pints out - twice in a week.

Just heard back via the wife (the engineer is currently there) that possible the ridge tiles have come lose and the rain is going down? Possible?

Very possible!

No point in replacing the boiler if the flue is faulty!
