Hi,
removed all the tiles from my bathroom the weekend.
On one wall some of the skimcoat came off...it was no more than a mill or two.
My first question is: do i need to re skim these parts or will a bit of extra grout do the trick in this spot?
And my second question...there is still some grout here and there on the walls...should i remove it??...again its only a mill or two thick.
I dont plan on doing the tiling myself as I have never tried it .
CHeers,
Marty

The areas where the skim coat has come off should be OK as they will fill with the new tile cement. However, the left over grout will cause a problem getting the new tiles to sit flush - this needs removing. Sharp scraper should do it but you may need the assistance of a hammer! Hot water can help to soften the grout. Probably cause a bit more damage to the wall but up to a couple of mil deep shouldn't cause any probs when it comes to re-tiling.

Cheers Guys,
One last question...one wall that is going to be tiled was never tiled before.
It is painted...can i tile straight onto the paint??
Marty.
