Hi everyone,
I have a radiant RSF24 boiler which is 13 years old. When the heating is on the boiler pressure rises to 3.5 bar so I turn it off before the safty valve kicks in.I have spoken to a tech helpline who advise that the expansion vessel needs to be re-charged which should fix the problum.Basically I have to let water out until the pressure of the boiler is 0 and then pump air into the expansion vessel to about 1 bar then bring the water pressure back to 1.5 bar.If this works then all should be ok,if not then the vessel might need replacing.I would guess this is not as easy as he made it sound,is this something I could attempt myself or should I leave it to an `expert`whom I will have to call out.
Now I have no wish to upset any of you good guys out there but the last time I had a problum when the boiler would not stop heating I called out 3 people, the first 2 both said the boiler was knackered and would need replacing? The 3rd said no way its just a faulty thermocouple/thermostat and fixed it for 40 quid. All the guys where corgi reg or claimed to be so I`m a little bit wary now about calling someone out, can`t call on the guy who fixed in last time as it was 5 years ago and he has moved to austrailia!!!
Any help and advice is much appriciated
thanks
