Hi everyone,

Desperately hope someone can help me!!!
I own a pre-WW1 house, and the walls are covered in a very deep layer of very soft, crumbly plaster, the bricks behind being extremely hard.
I'm having a nightmare just trying to get anything put up on the walls, as drilling into the plaster is a disaster.... the drill will just not go through the brick, and if I use a hammer drill to do so, this just results in the hole in the plaster getting bigger & bigger so that a rawlplug is useless.
I can't even successfully hang a picture, let alone wall shelves :(
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
Thanks
Caroline.

heeelllooo p p and welcome :D

is your masonary bit sharp!!!!! is your drill on high speed!!!

what power off drill are you actualy using!!!! [battery voltage or watts as in 550w on the rating plate for mains drills]

if the bricks are hard youll get no where without hammer action

suspect youll have to replaster a lot if not all the wall effected
before you can rectify this situation

Expect you have lime plaster and hard Victorian bricks, It will need a decent power drill preferably SDS or DSD plus to get easily into the brick. Don't attempt to just fix into the plaster it won't be strong enough.
