hi, i have a problem with my ignition barrel, the key will not turn i have looked around and saw that it is a common problem with 106's. i started tryin to get itto turn and ended up jaming it so that the key will not enter the barrel all the way. now apparently i need to replace it. i have a new barrel now but have no idea on how to remove it to i can fit the new one.

i have -
1996 pug 106 independence

petrol

can anyone quickly walk me thru it.
would be a great help.

thanks alot

There is a little brass pin that needs pushing in to release the barrel, and from memory think there is a small screw too. You need the key in and turned to position 1, so sounds like the only way round it for you is to drill the old lock assembly out.

It's quite soft metal but you do need a fairly big drill bit (14mm ish) to be able to get the locking mechanism out.

Once out you need to wiggle the wires and the multipin connector through to release the whole assembly
