After reading all the replies, I decided to remove the TRV section of the valve in the bedroom and replace with the protective cap. This has worked fine as the rad is now doubling up as the bypass.
I think the next step is to fit a room stat in the hall, and remove that TRV, and refit the bedroom TRV in order to maximise the efficiency of the system. Does this sound like a good plan?
If so, is it easy to fit a room stat?
Oh.....and the bathroom TRV is still banging!!
