Hi,

Electician wired in new shower last month with 10mm cable to CU.
The light in the fuse on the pull switch in the bathroom does not light up when on. And when its pulled to cut power to the shower it trips all power.
(mate only pulled it as he didnt like the glowing standby lights on the shower unit)

Any ideas

When you say it trips all power, what exactly trips - presumably you have a single RCD covering all circuits, and that's what goes?

Given it was done a month ago, I suggest you get the electrician back in to take a look, and fix it - assuming you haven't tried to alter the set up in anyway, then it's their problem to sort...

All power in the CU go's. Shower ciruit has its own RCD 45amp.

Will call the electrician back in, thought it might be to do with no light in the fuse?

That's not necessarily an RCD. There are two main types of circuit breakers (often referred to as 'trip swithces'), MCBs (Miniature circuit breakers), which have a current rating measure in A, and RCD/RCCBs (Residual current devices / circuit breakers), with an activation current measure in mA.

Presumably when all the power goes out, it's the 'trip switch' at one end of your consumer unit that goes off - which would be an RCD (a standard main switch that you'd get otherwise wouldn't trip, the only thing upstream of that that would go is the cutout fuse)....
