Shortly we shall be building a Kitchen extension. Which type of plastic pipe should we use "PEX" or "Barrier". It is for Hot/Cold water and Central Heating.

Thanks

Im sure someone will get all scientific, but in essance, Plastic allows air molecules to pass through it, which, in a heating system is obviously not good! So the barrier pipe has a "barrier" to reduce/prevent ingestion of air molecules.
You can get bpex! 2 things with plastic, stick to 1 brand, dont mix and match ie, JG and floplast. I find floplast hard to push together compared with JG. And also ensure when you cut the pipe it is a clean cut, i have a JG cutter.

PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) and PB (Polybutylene) are both barrier pipes.
Both will be suitable for your needs. PB has less of the memory effect, which tries to recoil the pipe.
