Quick Loft BRegs question please?

Just a couple of quickies please. In terms of a loft conversion and Bregs

1) Does the new staircase have to have natural light?

2) To meet fire regs must the new loft room have a door? In the past I've seen loft conversions where the new stairs just take you up straight into the middle of the new room. Would this sort of design still meet current regs?

2) Yes but it can go at the top or bottom of the loft stairs.
