Basically, im a plasterer by trade and quite often the need arises to remove and refit radiators which has never really proved an issue in the past - however, whilst removing a radiator yesterday the valve at the lockshield end just dropped off the actual pipe - now my question is - are these valves just fitted to the pipe work by way of a soldered joint? and if they are, how difficult would this type of joint be for your average diy'er?

Cheers in advance for any responses

ok - what im left with at the moment is a plain pipe, how exactly do I go about refitting the valve?

check the pipe is undamaged that maybe why it fell off.
i take it has pulled the olive off as well, may not of been tight enough.
clean the pipe , wirewool etc.
slide the nut on, then the new olive and then the valve and tighten.
don't over tighten or you'll just crush the olive.

I didnt even notice an olive so that right there must be the issue!

Thanks for the speedy responses seco, much appreciated

unscrew the nut off the valve it must be in their, but it will be damaged and a new one required.

surprised how straight forward the fix is - really thought there was more to it! but im not complaining :D
