quick question re hot water cylinder connections

I am going to be fitting a new vented hot water cylinder.
Someone told me not to use ptfe tape on the connections.

I can see that I wont need to use it on the immersion heaters as these have a washer.

What about on the other connections though (1 inch-22mm male connections)
I would have thought I would have needed tape on these.

Please can someone advise what is the correct way to connect these male connectors.

I always use thread tape and Boss-white,especially on the immersion heater.

Used to be hemp and Boss-white when I was younger guy

Ask at plumbers merchants for Loctite 55.

Its PTFE Jim, but not as you know it.
