Radiator has perfuming smell coming from it? why?

Hello all,

Moved into a new place and just started to put the radiator in one room since turning it on a couple of months ago it has been giving off kind of burning perfume smell. I thought it was just dust but the dust still has not gone from the radiator, theres loads of dust inbetween the radiator that I can not reach to clean. What do people think the strange burning perfume smell is?

Just trying to imagine what burning perfume smells like.

If the smell is definitely attributable to just one radiator then I'd be tempted to leave the rad on and see if it disipates.

Is there any possibility that the previous occupants left bearing a grudge? - it's not unknown for various items to be deposited behind radiators

An old trick that used to be used when we couldnt find a small water leak was to pour cheap perfume or aftershave into the system and the customer would smell it and that located which area the leak was, not saying that is what is happening with yours but bleed a radiator in a different room and see if you can smell it there too
