The radiator in my dining room was thick with about 10 layers of paint, the top two or three ordinary gloss which were bubbling and discolouring. So, I stripped it all off, with several applications of paint stripper and a lot of elbow grease.

The time finally came to repaint. I applied a coat of white primer and left it to dry. An hour later the whole radiator is covered with a dense rash of rusty coloured spots.

It looks awful. Where did I go wrong and what can I do?

sounds like you used an acylic/water based primer.
i would remove it and use an oil based metal primer or one of the all in one radiator enamels you can get

you're right, I did. I knew I should have gone for the all in one stuff! Thanks for the reply.
