Hi All

Could the type of radiator stat valves have any effect on the amount of noise made from the system when the radioators start to shut down?

We're getting a loud rushing noise from one of the radiators and the un-valved bathroom towel heater which is driving us mad.

Is there much differrence in valve quality/cost?

Thanks
Andy

First thing to try is turning down the "lockshield" valve on the other end of the rad. This reduces the flow going past the valve. Obviously snaggy with your towel rail. It shouldn't have bee fitted without valves if it's on the CH!

Honeywell VT117 and VT200 (?) trv's are also OK, as well as Drayton, and Danfoss I believe.

Bypass valves shouldn't be necessary (IF I'm right in thinking the combi has one fitted internally)

If you DO want to fit one, put it as far from the pump as you can get it. Think hard and you'll realise why!
