Afternoon all,

going to be in the position where I’ll of finished all my
Block work for my
Porch next week and will be starting on the roof.

My intentions is to have a lean to type sloping / pitched roof and use tiles on them… think I’ve got Santoft tiles.

Any how I will be installing a small Velux window in the roof, it’s not a big roof 1 meter deep x 2.75 metres wide .

I was wondering when it comes to fastening the rafters to the header timber( header timber will be 6x2 is it ok to use some sort of joist hangers for this or do
I need to cut birds mouth joints?
Thanks
Jake

If it's a pitched roof, then you will have a wooden ridge board, the rafters are cut to your chosen angle (pitch), usually nailed to the ridge, then birdsmouthed & nailed on to the wall plate (timber at top of wall), you won't need joist hangers.

A 'lean to' roof only slopes in one direction.

Good luck, where's the photos?(y)
