Need to raise height of existing concrete floor by 30mm to bring level with rest of ground floor in house. This new floor will then be covered with ceramic tiles in the one room and with solid oak floor boards in other room. I understand that a screed needs to be minimum 50mm thick - is this true or can I screed to 30mm? Is there any other low cost option?

yyou could try using granite chippings as a reinforcing ad -mixture to the regular screed.

mix it three to one minimum.(three sand or aggregate to one cement)

That reminds me of Grano? screed from the old days.....is that a similar thing
