Hi everyone, I'm replacing an MCB with an RCBO, the MCB is looking after a downstairs ring main, and there is no RCD cover. the question is how do I test the RCBO, for example is the testing the same as for an RCD , ie x5 and x1, if so how is it done?

x0.5
x1 at 0 and 180 degree's
x5 at 0 and 180 degree's
Mechanical test button

At 0.5I it should not trip
At I it should trip within 300mS (BS EN 61009)
At 5I it should trip within 40mS
And don't forget to do a loop test first - otherwise you may end up livening up exposed metalwork ;)

With an Alphatek, you need not worry about electrocuting the housewife as she washes up.

With an RCBO of trip rating above 30mA, the 5x test is not applicable.
