Could some one please advise me on the best type of RCBO for the old type MEM 2000 CU.Had a problem with the main RCD failing on ramp test on 5x >40ma.Thanks

Ramp test?

You mean RCD auto test?

MEM are renowned for this. You have to test the RCD as the manufacturer intended: in complete isolation.

Switch off all MCB's attached to the RCD.

Disconnect all neutrals from the busbar attached to the RCD.

Now test the RCD direct from the outgoing terminals.

Having eliminated all outgoing circuitry, you will now get a true result.

Does it still fail?

If I've got it wrong and you do mean ramp test, the same procedure still applies.
 
I don't think you have got it wrong as there's no 5x on a ramp test.
It starts with minimal current and increases to find the point of trip.
