Hi all...

Two years or so ago, we decided we would brick up the old coal fireplace, spot board and skim.... nice weekends work..... How-ever...

Weve bn chatting and are thinking it mght be nice to actually have a nice warm open fire.... Log burning etc....Plenty of trees round here for free timber....

Im thinking it might not be as simple as bricking up....

We have Laminate flooring upto the wall, and i know ill need to do something with that...

From what I remember i removed an old cracked lintle in the fireplace and bricked up the hole completely. Im guessing a new lintle will be needed.

Any thaughts on proteting the walls? all are spot boarded, and dont fancy them catching fire?

Any pointers / idieas on this at all would be great....

Rgds
