Hi

My chairs are really lightweight. I would like to make them heavy from underneath but at the front.

So, I was thinking of driving some *heavy* screws on the bottom front of the chair. But, where can I get really heavy screws?

Thanks.

A few standard screws securing a dozen or so 25mm washers per screw would be more effective at adding weight.

Have you any offcuts of lead or old lead pipe lying round? ;)

To hit over my head to suggest even such a stupid idea eh! ;)

Unfortunately, I can't afford new chairs and am looking for cheaper ways of using my existing furniture.

Carpet your floor in Velcro loops and the bottom of the legs with Velcro hooks, your chairs will then seem very heavy.

Wooden chairs then.
You could use the lead simply screwed to the underside of the seat or if you want something more aesthetic drill a hole into the ends of the legs i.e. into the end grain so creating a hollow leg , and fill that with a piece of pipe or rolled lead and held in with resin or two pack filler.
