We currently have Megger 1502 meters but are looking to upgrade to another Megger or even consider another make altogether if anything comes recommended.

The reason why we're looking to change is lack of automatic RCD test which means we have to carry out five manual tests per circuit (RCBO's) which is going to be a hassle for 10 circuits or so. Also the backlight is pretty poor in that a press of the button gives around 5 seconds of light then it switches back off again.

We previously had Fluke 1653's but sold them due to spurious loop impedance readings.

So, what do you use or recommend?

The Megger 1552 has the auto test, as does the 1553 which also has bluetooth. The 1552 I have does the 5s thing with the light too :(

It's not just me that finds the backlight timout irritating then?
That's a shame as the 1552 looked promising.

Personally I like metrel MFTs.

The back light times goes off 15 seconds after the last button press.

I can live with 15s.

I've just looked at the Alphatek (Metrel) Eurotest EASI, seems OK.

I've got an install test 61557, and really like it.

I've been using metrel testers for about 6 years now.
