Hi All,

Perhaps someone has come across this problem before!

We have 'Rustic' type wall bricks, they have a grooved face.

Problem:- is, how can you get the old silicone filler of the brick work, the new conservatory is not exactly in the same position as the old one, hence it has left a line of white silicone on the wall which looks unsightly!

Have tried wire brush and some silicone remover which has not helped at all!

Jet wash to, was none effective.

Any ideas!

You could try a blow lamp but don't burn the bricks; otherwise a stanley knife, lots of blades & even more patience!

i would think a blow lamp would melt it and spread it further, but worth a try,

its next to the new conservatory frame so will have to be careful the heat

does not get onto the pvc. its over a height of about 7 feet and tram lined.

silicone sealants are extremely temperature tolerant, some industrial types dealing with a temperature range of -55 to +260 degrees celsius.

Silicone may be temperature tolerant but you can give it a quick & localized, high temperature flash to weaken its hold to help removal without damaging the surrounding brick structure. But don’t apply prolonged heat (more than around 10 seconds) & it goes without saying that you should not direct the flame at & melt your new conservatory! If you know what it is, get hold of a piece of asbestolux (old soffit board or piece of garage roof) & hold this against the adjacent conservatory frame to protect it from the heat.
