Removing a plug socket

Thanks for all the interest folks. As far as I could ascertain last night the socket hidden by the cupboard is not a spur so that option has gone. If I can extend the wires to allow the passageway socket to be raised up the wall a few inches, can I plaster over the joints and if so what method of connectingthe wires do I have to use?

The socket behind the wall of the cupboard is in effect an inaccessible junction box. It is not impossible that a fault may require urgent access to that socket in order to restore power supply. Screws in terminals can slacken over time leading to hot spots. Damp is not unknown in closed cavities leading the earth leakage and RCD tripping or corrosion of wires in the terminals.

It may be worth considering a planned access hatch constructed without haste now to solve the present problem and avoid the later risk of a hastily cut hole to repair a fault at the socket.
