We've taken some old, cheap coving down from a room and are going to put some nicer stuff up, but a lot of adhesive is left from the old coving. It's kind of pale brown or beige in colour, and has been applied over artex.

My question is, how is it best to get this off? I had a go with a wallpaper remover, (going very carefully to avoid making a hole in the ceiling!) and it's getting it off but it's slow and painful!

Any ideas for any easier methods?

Many thanks :)

Use a four inch stiff bladed broad knife and a mallet plus lots of elbow grease, not an easy job I'm afraid.

It certainly doesn't sound easy! Thanks for the honesty though :)
