I've just bought a house where the floorboards have been painted white. It's not really a look I'm into. The paint was put directly onto the bare floorboards. What should I use to remove the paint, and how, and will it be okay to stain and varnish them afterwards??

heeelllooo di why and welcome

both go hand in hand
you sand to give you a level smooth surface to varnish so the answer is yes

the only trouble you may find you have to dig at nail holes and the sand the sides just below the surface to remove the white paint that surface sanding dosnt remove
