Does anyone know how to remove the glaze off a red quarry tile.

I have just recently acquired a batch of quarry tiles which I am matching to an existing lot which I currently have in my house. The problem is that my existing tiles are unglazed but the the ones I have just bought have a very thin glaze. I have tried scrubbing with wire scourers and using Nitromoors, but to no avail.

Is there a chemical remover than can be used, or any other product which will take the glaze off?

wouldn't have thought it. The glaze is extremly hard and is fused into the surface of the tile during firing. You would be thinking about some very hard and fine abrasive.

Think about buying some new ones :(
