Doing a new floor and skirting boards to match. Existing boards are horrible old things and getting tatty. Trouble is, the microbore heating pipes are attached in several places and I think this could prevent me getting much leverage to remove the boards.

Will I have to drain system (combi boiler) and remove radiators to get required leeway in pipes for removal of boards, do you think?

We had the same problem as you, we did the following.....

Drill a series of 10 m/m holes vertically, close together, then move the drill at an angle up and down to join the holes up. Do this where you can, and remove the skirting in sections.

We were lucky, in that we manged to slide the new skirting from lying flat on the floor up behind the piping

Aha. Thanks Trazor, sounds like a good plan, I'll give it a bash.
