Hi all, I've searched online for info but couldn't find anything, so thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knows.

I have a Renault Kangoo van (2001) and just to the right of the steering wheel there is a controller for the cd player. I think it just controls the volume and possibly has a mute function too. Anyway, I bought a Sony cd player to replace the original stereo and was wondering if I can use this controller with my cd player. It's been 6 months since I fitted the Sony, but I've only just become curious about the controller.

I can't remember what was behind the stereo as in electrical connections, but I can check tomorrow. Would the controller have a seperate wire that runs to the back of the stereo?

I realise it might not be possible to use this controller with my new cd player, but thought it worth an ask, just in case.

Thanks for any help!

you can get an adaptor for some sonys. ask your local Halfrauds, they should be able to help.
(p.s. an independant specialist would be a better bet, they are more likely to help than try to sell you a new radio)

Thank you, Davie. I will go to Halfords and see what they say. Funnily enough, I bought my cd player from them only 6 months ago, so if they try to sell me a new one I will kindly point out they've robbed me once this year already :D

you can get hold of steering wheel controls for most makes of cars we tend to use connects 2 or autoleads we sell them for 34.99, you dont say which model of sony radio you have as not all sony radios are compatible, you can tell by having a look at the back of the radio there will be a 3.5mm blue socket in the bottom right corner,if its got that then you just need the right adaptor. if you need any more help you can email me [email protected]

Hi Adrian, sorry to butt in, presumably you're in the trade, would you mind if I mailed you on a slightly related issue?

If not, no worries.
