Render a "wet" external wall?

Hi

I have a small garden retaining wall.
There is no damp proof course.
The brick is directly against soil.

I want to render the wall.

Will the render stick?
Will the bricks get damaged further by the rendering trapping the moisture?
What render should I use?

Very bad idea IMO. It will pop off with the first frost.

Does look a bit home-madey. Rebuilt in engineering bricks with a nice capping would look and last much better.
