Hi guys (and girls)

We have done a scratch coat on our garden wall yesterday, which seems to have gone on quite well (so far , it may all fall off!!)

How soon should we be looking to do the final coat?, will it make any difference if for example we had to leave it a while?, hoping to do the final coat tommorrow, but want to check first.

Also should the consistency of the final mix be different to the first mix and should i use waterproofer in the top coat?

You should of put W/proofer in the scratch coat. What gauge did you use for the scratch coat?

Ok no probs then make your floatcoat 5-1 and put plasticiser in it , Damp it down before you spread it, should be ok to do tomorrow.

It is a debatable subject some put w/proofer in the top coat and others like myself either put lime or plasterciser in it.. That was the way I was taught years ago...The top coat is usually painted anyway, So if you want to put it in then people will say ok, but if you don't put it in they will say ok.. So you cant be doin' wrong for doin ' right.!!! ;)
