Does anybody know how to deal with staining coming through external render from unwashed aggregate ? Do I have to cut out and replace the affected area or is there a paint I can use which will prevent the stain coming through ?

theres not a lot you can do,if you cut out and patch it will proably look worse,wait till the weather gets better,and try weathering it with the hose. i see this staining regular,looks like rust.
Yes, possibly iron oxides . I do'nt think there's a lot you can do with them apart from paint.Patching render is never a great job, unless you can disguise it with a raised band to make a feature ?
